Tourists can visit Siachen, see how Army works in tough place: Rajnath

Current affairs: Siachen, the world's highest battlefield, is now open to tourists, said defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday.

Opening the area from Siachen base camp to Kumar Post will give people a chance to see how the Army's jawans and engineers work in extreme weather in Ladakh, he said.

Singh was addressing a function in eastern Ladakh to inaugurate the Colonel Chewang Rinchin Bridge on Shyok River, located about 45 km from the county's border with China.
